| Producing sounds that make you think of nothing but themselves Steve Hauschildt follows a trajectory from magic to myth and then science. His Aeropsia (60:11) is not so much an album, but a marvel - emitting one inventive design after another. The stories of these nine tracks, tales of sleeping synths and warm harmonic beds, do travel quite well. Every chord catches the light in gestures as large as the approaching dawn, then as quiet and small as a whisper of wind. Flowing together in a circulation of synthetic sound timbres rise and recede, advance and withdraw Hauschildt's sonic formations feel like stirring exchanges of atmosphere. Embracing each note, the clarity of Aeropsia asks us to be present at the center of our own human drama. Where these intriguing moods offer repose and contemplation rare sonic designs are in constant motion. With keyboard currents rushing beneath a dancing piano, further in a cello sings unfeigned. Luminous with the reflected light of stars floating guitar textures breathe the fullness of sensation, while arpeggio notes echo and pulse in precisely pitched mechanized order. The seduction, the promise of this album, that somewhere beneath the confusion of gods, ghosts, rituals and rites the force of imagination and power of expression will reveal an exquisite realm - inviting to the play of the mind. The engines of music and art are always oscillating. Becoming lost in the intentions of Aeropsia can only shape us for the better.
