Desert Goddess Jaymie Rose Hennegan
Enlivening the space behind the eyes Jaymie Rose Hennegan seeks what meaning there is prowling the wilds of the Earth. Desert Goddess (46:40) emerges like a light to lead the lost from a barren realm. Written as large as the sky it soars in panoramic lyricism, then flickers softly between the dusk and the day. Leaving its meaning bracingly indefinite this remarkable release takes time to float over the darkness before unfolding in structured sequencer patterns. Skipping up and down the scales, across sound and time a rolling momentum is achieved. To thrilling effect, the runs of notes entwine like ethereal dancers in a knowing embrace. Propelled with mechanical rhythms, like sparks thrown off some great, beautiful machine, the patterns cycle on the verge of the metronomic, only to ascend expertly to calculated heights of syncopated pulse. It is here that the questing, monumental melodic lead lines allude to a heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. Drifting between synthesizer states, in darksome minor keys, in clarity and precision the five tracks sigh skyward - searching for beauty, pursuing meaning, to engage in consciousness and our individual experience of the self.
