Profile: Wave World
Wave World Wave World is a synthesizer and computer based musical project including Dutch members: Gert van Santen, Harry Kessels and Rolf van Slooten. Their style of music is decidedly in the post-New Age Ambient sphere and remarkably well suited to the widescreen computer-generated film it accompanies in the live medium. The combination of solar system fly-bys, virtual pollen sprays and some very psychedelic alien landscapes is breathtaking.
Wave World offers an incredibly dynamic live show. Kessels and van Santen's music travels easily between rich textures of floating synth harmonics and infectious electronic rhythms and melodies, all in coordination with van Slooten's brilliant, big screen 3D computer graphics. Performances have been well received at Europe's most prestigious electronic music festivals where audiences have witnessed Wave World's unique audiovisual experiences and unparalleled stage presence. Wave World
Wave World Wearing hooded robes and eerie stage make-up, each Wave World concert explores the borders of the live performance environment. The haunting ceremonial entrances are spent with a full two minutes praying at their instruments to, "exorcise the demons of ill tuning". Alien voices echo in the dark. A sound palette of bells, wooden blocks, giggling children, and night forest sounds is followed by prophetic phrases spoken in the unknown language of the Wave World inhabitants.
Gradually, a starry night illuminates on a gigantic screen. Planets slide by and the audience floats in between meteoric rocks and fluorescent yellowish- green- amber swirls. Those present find themselves as co-pilots in the cockpit of an extraterrestrial exploration in a far away galaxy; witnessing a surrealist exploration of a strange greenish world with bizarre creatures gliding above blue seas, floating through misty forests or laying eggs in faiery-like swamps. Wave World
Designed by Virtual Factory, the mind-blowing computer graphics form a perfect unity with the often cosmic, at other times experimental or symphonic and sometimes even danceable music. Throughout, there is no single point in time when this outer-worldly atmosphere is disturbed by silence or breaks.

Following the concert at The Gatherings, Wave World performed live on the 10.14.01 broadcast of STAR'S END Ambient Radio. The duo realized two 30 minute sets of floating, abstract spacemusic and demonstrated their great ability to improvise music as well as their vision as artists. These two tracks were released by Virtual Factory in Winter 2002 on the double CD, Cloudseeder.
