While the revelation of some music makes the listener feel less alone, Enigmatic Resonance (29:08) will leave us more grateful of our solitude. Here Jesper Pedersen shuns the clarity of conventional narrative and plays with an ear for color, motion and texture. Experienced through pure mental interpretation the listener's focus expands beyond sound to the sources of that sound and the formless infinite state. From the first drone, we are enchanted. Throughout each of the two works tones lightly glimmer, then delve deliberately below the surface. At times in focus, then diffusing to a blur the gentle descent of incandescent timbres and drifting energy readily stirs the imagination. As the fragile stability gives way to Ambient explorations we recognize that Enigmatic Resonance is energized by some higher current. From passages of turbulent triads and vexed modulations to softer textures shifting in space and depth, this release prefers the subconscious be discovered rather than laid bare. Coming through in thoughtful, principled expressions Pedersen delivers yet another poignant and enigmatic Electronic realization.
