STAR'S END Update - 10 May 2026
|
Guiding us on another magical musical odyssey Forrest Fang wanders widely while looking for routes. Somewhere between dreams and memory we encounter Radiance and the Receding Light (141:37). Over 11 engaging tracks listeners are transported to other, purer realms. Building in relaxed stretches and winding reversals the mindscape drifts easily among phantom anthems from lost lands. In a complex calculation of texture, timbre and tone the electric charge of the synthesizer is carefully considered. A stimulating range of sampled and natural gongs, bells, vibraphone, organ, flute, piano and zither give more impact to this album's emotional peaks, as once out in the air soft rhythms bestow an unexpected depth. Ascending from a rumbling nocturne, then settling into the gentle delicacy of day, moments of tenderness are exactly rendered and exquisitely beheld. In a fascinating portrayal of stillness layers of sustaining synth notes gather slowly, build and recede in a lulling and harmonious infinite moment. The sheer diversity of sounds and moods, the gentle intermingling of thoughts, traditions and shimmering Ambient atmospheres opens an ethereal doorway into mind and mood. This work will stand out for its clarity of vision and depth of execution. It rewards patience, revealing new details with each listen, and invites the listener into a space where sound and time intertwine - where we are so safe and protected in the sheen of the Radiance and the Receding Light.
